Planning a kids’ party with a bouncy castle, water slide, or inflatable rental? This guide explains the most important things to know before your event, including setup surfaces, space requirements, power access, weather safety, water setups, supervision, and how to prepare your backyard.

1. Can a Bouncy Castle Be Set Up on Concrete or Hard Surface?

Yes, some inflatables can be set up on hard surfaces such as concrete, asphalt, patio stones, or indoor gym floors, but the setup must be reviewed carefully for safety.

Grass is usually preferred because it allows the inflatable to be secured with ground pegs. On hard surfaces, ground pegs cannot be used, so sandbags may be required to help secure the inflatable properly.

Hard-surface setups may require an additional sandbag fee depending on the inflatable, location, and setup conditions. Larger inflatables, obstacle courses, and high-activity units may need extra anchoring support.

Before the event, it is important to send clear photos of the setup area so we can confirm if the inflatable can be installed safely.

Quick tip: Grass is usually the best setup surface. Hard surfaces may be possible, but they require more planning.

2. Why Proper Anchoring Is Important

Proper anchoring is one of the most important parts of a safe inflatable setup.

On grass, inflatables are usually secured with ground pegs. On hard surfaces, such as concrete, asphalt, patio stones, or indoor floors, ground pegs cannot be used, so sandbags may be required.

Some larger inflatables, obstacle-style units, and high-activity setups may require additional anchoring support. The goal is always to keep the inflatable as stable and secure as possible during use.

3. How Much Space Do I Need for a Bouncy Castle?

Each inflatable has different space requirements. Some smaller bounce castles fit comfortably in many backyards, while larger slide combos, water slides, and obstacle courses require more room.

When checking your space, consider:

The full length and width of the inflatable
Extra space around the unit for safe access
Height clearance from trees, wires, roofs, or branches
Gate width and access path
Slopes, steps, narrow walkways, or tight corners
Distance from the power outlet

Before delivery, setup photos are very helpful. Photos of the entrance, gate, path, and exact setup area allow us to confirm whether the inflatable can be delivered and installed properly

4. Access Requirements for Large Inflatables

Some inflatables are large and heavy, especially obstacle courses, large slides, and bigger combo units. These rentals may require trailer transportation and extra setup time.

Before delivery, it is important to confirm that there is enough access to bring the inflatable into the setup area. Narrow gates, stairs, steep slopes, tight corners, or long carrying distances can make setup difficult or unsafe.

For larger inflatables, clear access helps avoid delays and allows the setup to be completed safely and professionally.

5. Do I Need a Generator for a Bouncy Castle Rental?

Most inflatables require a blower connected to a suitable power outlet. The outlet should be close enough to the setup area and safe to use.

If the inflatable will be more than approximately 100 feet from a suitable outlet, or if the power source would require cords across a public or shared area, a generator may be needed.

Generators are commonly used for larger setups, outdoor events, parks with approved private areas, or locations where electrical access is limited.

Important: Extension cords should not be excessively long because the blower needs stable power to keep the inflatable properly inflated.

6. Power Requirements for Inflatable Rentals

Most inflatable rentals require a blower that must stay on during the entire rental. The blower needs a suitable power outlet close to the setup area.

For most setups, the outlet should be within approximately 100 feet of the inflatable. Longer distances are not recommended because the blower may not receive stable power.

Larger setups or multiple inflatables may require more than one outlet. When possible, outlets should not all be on the same circuit, especially when using multiple blowers.

If safe power is not available, a generator may be required.

7. Dry Setup vs Wet Setup: Which One Should I Choose?

A dry setup is a great option for birthdays, backyard parties, school events, daycare events, and indoor or cooler-weather celebrations.

A wet setup is ideal for summer parties and hot days. Water slides and wet combos add extra fun and help keep kids cool during the event.

For wet setups, the inflatable blower must remain on while the unit is in use. If water collects in the pool or splash area, the blower should not be turned off until the setup is ready to be safely emptied and handled.

8. How to Prepare Your Backyard Before Delivery

To help the setup go smoothly, please prepare the area before we arrive.

The setup area should be clean, clear, and ready. Please remove toys, furniture, branches, sharp objects, garden tools, sprinklers, pet waste, and anything that could block access.

Please also make sure the gate or entrance is open and that there is enough space for the inflatable to pass through. Some inflatables are large and heavy, so narrow entrances, stairs, steep slopes, or tight turns can make delivery difficult.

A clean and accessible setup area helps avoid delays and makes the installation safer.

9. Why Adult Supervision Is Required

Adult supervision is required at all times while the inflatable is in use.

Children should be monitored to avoid rough play, flips, pushing, climbing on walls, food inside the unit, or too many kids inside at the same time.

For safety, children should be grouped by similar size and age whenever possible. Smaller children should not be mixed with much larger or more active children inside the inflatable.

Supervision is one of the most important parts of a safe and enjoyable rental.

10. What Happens If It Rains or Gets Windy?

Weather safety is very important for inflatable rentals.

Inflatables should not be used during heavy rain, storms, lightning, or unsafe wind conditions. If the weather becomes unsafe during the event, use should stop immediately until conditions are safe again.

Light rain may not always be a problem, but heavy rain, storms, or strong winds can create unsafe conditions. Safety always comes first.
